Needs your help and support for Y(our) SRI ADI SHANKARA HALL
Sringeri Vidya Bharathi Foundation (SVBF), located in Etobicoke, Toronto is a pre-eminent Hindu spiritual and cultural center in North America. SVBF Canada, an overseas affiliate of Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri, India was established as a non-profit, charitable organization to propagate Sanathana Dharma in communities across Canada in the year 2005. The SVBF temple is adorned by Goddess of Learning Sri Sharadamba together with a number of other deities. In addition, the complex has a beautiful open concept Adi Shankara Museum depicting the life of the renowned Hinduism reviver Sri Adi Shankaracharya, a dedicated library for Indian philosophy and thoughts and a large fully equipped auditorium “Tunga Bhadra” with banquet facilities. Variety of vegetarian food may be catered ranging from simple snacks to sit down meals.
Adi Shankara Vidyalaya at SVBF offers FREE classes to children and adults on many aspects of Hinduism such as: Bhagavad Gita Classes, Soundarya Lahari classes, Sanskrit classes, Bhajans, Religious classes, Music classes and so on. Free Yoga classes are also held at the temple conducted by Ambika Yoga Kutir. We also have special Satsang’s by visiting luminaries in the field.
SVBF has highly trained priests in all aspects of Hindu religious ceremonies who can perform rituals as per customs of the Hindus. They are available to perform poojas and other samskaras (rituals ) either at the temple complex or at devotee’s homes.
As all our regular devotees and well-wishers are aware, year 2016 was a very exciting year with several special poojas, homams, chantings, and entertainment events that took place which was attended by a large section of people from our community. We are sure that many devotees have benefitted with our activities, events and free classes in enhancing their spiritual life. A new addition to our various activities is the Senior Club where seniors from the community meet every Sunday and socialize. Lectures and demonstrations from experts in various fields are also arranged as part of activities for the Seniors Club. The Year also was special as SVBF conducted its first 3 day Maha rudram Yagnam event for the benefit of the community which was well attended by over 150 Ritwiks from Canada and US and supported in large numbers by our well-wishers, devotees and sponsors.
We have received the first stage approval from the City of Toronto and also received very encouraging support from our local councillor and city authorities to our request to make our Yaga Shala a permanent structure for performing various homams throughout the year. However as in the case with such large commitments, this project needs lot of funds to make it a reality. And the only people we can turn to is our community.
As you all know, this is a large complex and requires considerable funds for maintenance and support of our activities throughout the year and will not be possible without the support of our community.
SVBF has set a target of $250,000 for this mammoth project to be achieved by November 2017 and starting November 01, 2016, we will have a accepting donations of the project.
Contributions above $50.00 will receive tax receipts for the full amount of donation.
As the end of August 2019 the amount of donations collected/pledged towards Sri Adi Shankara Hall is $162,021.00. The actual collection is $125,497 whereas the toal cost so far is around $225,000.00
All the contributions, big or small and transactions will be transparent for everyone to review on our website as well as in the Temple office.
