Aksharabhyasam or Akshara Abhyasam or Vidyaarambham or Akshara Arambham or Mudhal ezuthu is a traditional religious function to initiate education to the child. The ritual includes puja to Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of Knowledge.
The ritual is very common in the Hindu families of Andhra Pradesh, Telangna, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamilnadu. Akshara means 'letters/alphabets' and Abhyasam means 'practice'. Together they mean "the study of practical letters".
From an ancient time, education has been given the top priority in India and, therefore, every Indian believes that being educated means you are worshipping Goddess Saraswati.
This is an important spiritual and educational development for the child. A child between 2.5 and 4 years old will be initiated for education with proper prayers for a success education and career. Vasantha Panchami - Sunday February 02 is an auspicious day to initiate Children 2 + years age in their learning. To avoid long waits kindly book your spots for the Aksharabhyasam in the attached sheet. Bookings are available at 30 mins internal starting at 8.00 am am till Noon and 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm. Please arrive 30 mins before the allocated time. There is no better place to initiate the learning for your children than in direct front of Sharada Devi – Maha Saraswati. Sringeri Sharadamba who resides at SVBF Canada is Goddess Saraswati who bestows education in all forms. Every one with small children are welcome to perform this ritual prayers.
